I'm not a Muslim by any stretch of the imagination, but I am familiar with the Muslim world, so I was excited to see the imam there and get the sense of the whole Muslim world. Iqbal was able to provide me with a few more pictures and videos of the mosque. I also learned that there is a Muslim population in this area. That's very interesting to me and I'm really looking forward to seeing the mosque in person. The mosque itself is quite small, but it is certainly beautiful.
The Calgary mosque is located edmonton muslim in the Old City, not too far from the Canadian Parliament. I arrived here by cab, but I found this post on TripAdvisor indicating that you can also catch the bus. My guide was very helpful and I would recommend anyone wanting to go see this mosque to get an early booking.
I arrived on the Friday night (my first visit in November) and I was not disappointed. The space is pretty small and there are only about 15 people inside. There are three large rooms with black walls and red carpeting, and there are a couple of other smaller rooms as well. The mosque is a bit smaller than most in Canada, but you can actually see the building behind me from the parking lot. There are 3 rooms in the back of the mosque. The first has a white and red rug on the walls.
