Coat mussels in water and put in a large pot with the bacon. Cover and cook for 5 minutes, until most of the fat is cooked off. Put a heavy pot over the burner and turn the heat to medium. Note: This sauce is great on the side of meat. But it's not the only side to add it to. If you're planning to eat a lot of meat, and want to go vegan, go ahead and add it to your plate. How to Make Homemade Parmesan Sauce

To make a vegan Parmesan sauce, I had to experiment a little. I started by adding some parmesan cheese to the sauce as well as adding some onion powder, garlic powder and basil. I did a little bit of the cheese and onion to help it absorb more oil into the sauce.
