It is this that makes them so grateful when they meet me for the first time. I have to be able to give people this feeling in my life. This isn't to say that my family and community doesn't speak about the challenges of being a muslim, it has a presence on many levels, but I feel that their concern is not about me, but about their identity as a muslim.
